CURRICULUM

matters

Ecclesbourne Sixth

Form offers a varied

range of courses.

The Ecclesbourne Sixth Form offers a broad and

balanced curriculum. Our curriculum is designed to

inspire and challenge our Sixth Form students. We

offer a core academic curriculum of A level

qualifica:ons and Applied General Qualifica:ons.

With no pre-‐defined op:on blocks, our curriculum is

designed around the needs of our students with the

arts, three languages, technology and STEM subjects

all available to our students.

Students with a GCSE grade average of 7+ will be

encouraged to ini:ally study four subjects at A level.

This will give them a broad knowledge base to extend

their horizons prior to choosing three subjects in Year

13. Students with a combina:on of GCSE grades will

study three subjects from Year 12.

In addi:on, there is an expecta:on that our Sixth Form

students make a posi:ve contribu:on to our local

community. Students should supplement their

:metable with an enrichment or extra-‐curricular

op:on.

Progress from Year 12 to Year 13 should not be

considered automa:c. In order to be successful

at A level students need to gain at least three

passes (Grade E) in their summer examina:ons.
